A Holm large scale instructional working model car mounted on a wooden plinth. Manufactured by Holm Models Germany. Post-War era c1960s.
The idea for the model was conceived by Emil Hohm in 1934, an Opel dealer in Germany who worked together with Werner Degener, a driving instruction manual publisher.
With cutaway sections, visible engine block and cylinder head. The model features working lights, indicators and steering. The electric motor which is incorporated into the model turns the engine over sending power back through a working clutch into the gearbox. The model features a working driveshaft and differential.
Costing over 900DM in 1959, Holm models were never inexpensive when new. Length 107 cm, depth 35cm, height 41cm.
In original factory finish with good patina. In good working order mechanically. Attention required to rear bulb or wiring for one fo the lights. Crack to spare wheel and slight loss to blue moulded part near gear lever.
